Picture Explosion!!!

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Get ready for a ton of pictures!! Life has been fun and exciting for the Godards the last few months. Andrew got his Masters in Public Policy, Henry turned 1, Andrew got a job, and various other adventuresome things have happened.

Here's a picture from Henry's birthday! (May 28)

Andrew's graduation (end of May)

Henry's first time in a swing!

Turning into a walker (early June)

Modeling for Mama (his 12 month pictures)

I love his hands... so sue me

Halloween! Everything is 100% homemade. I say that because it's important to note that as skilled as I may seem, for whatever reason, these "powers" of creativity only manifest themselves when making costumes. I am at a complete loss of what to do when decorating or color coordinating clothing or creating something "neat." Halloween is the one time of the year where I feel like I have some creative merit. It was only fitting that we were Yoda and 2 Jedi knights because a) Henry reminded us of Yoda when he was first born and b) Andrew and I (Andrew mainly) started playing an online Star Wars game this year. Andrew was beyond excited about dressing up like a Jedi because he is a Star Wars fanatic, as well as many of our family members.

Pumpkin patch/petting zoo

Joy doesn't even come close to describing how happy he was at the petting zoo.

That's all for now! Thanks for visiting my blog! I will be better about updating it!

"Update" is a really boring word.

Hello, world. Can anyone hear me? I am sending words into the universe! Universe, today I want to talk to you about my tiny companion: Henry Charles Godard.

First of all, Henry is almost 17 months old. (It is here that I am extremely tempted to insert a "where-did-the time-go?" cliche because I feel that so completely and profoundly. Seriously, Where DID the time go? Did "it" think it was funny when it made my baby grow up too fast? Did "it" think that I wouldn't notice? Psh.. well.. I did.) I just want to briefly summarize what makes up this little man:

(Keep in mind that I am not posting this to be "braggy." This is honestly for records-sake and I know that my family would very much want to know all these things.)

Height: 32 inches

Weight: 25 lbs

Head circumference: Big and chubby and round and soft and beautiful

Hair color - Blonde with platinum blonde chunks in it (where I part his hair)

Eye color - denim blue

Words he says:

"Mamma" - Mommy/Grandma

"Daddy" - Daddy

"Beebee" - Baby

"La" - the (which he pretty much puts at the beginning of every word - like a little Monsieur)

"Bah-Doh" - Bottle

"Yesh" - Yes

"No" - No

"I-luh-low" - I love you

"Boosh" - Toothbrush/hairbrush/bush

"Bus" - Bus

"Munny" - Medicine/Bunny

"Buh" - Bug

"Bah" - Ball

"Bee" - Bear

"Moh" - More

"Mum" - Frog/Turtle/any small animal that's green or is little and cute - is also his "ribbit" sound

"Wuh-woah" - Elmo

"Neeeow" - Cat or "Meow"

"Wuh-Wuh" - puppy (also the sound a puppy makes)

"Na-na" - Banana

"Na-no" - Piano

"Bap-po" - Apple

"Bubbles" - bubbles

"Ba-ba" - Papa/Grandpa/Bye-bye

"Ga-Doh" - Avocado

"Wet" - Wet

"Deesh?" - This

"Weesh?" - Where's the _____?

"Oosh" - Shoes

"Diddle-Diddle" - Hey Diddle Diddle

"Wato" - Water

"Hi!" - Hi

"ah-guh" - I'm good

"Ninny" - Linny - his stuffed animal's name

"Kacker" - Cracker

"Cookie" - Cookie

"Mah-no" - Amen (he also folds his arms for prayers)

He can make the sounds for a cow, rooster, puppy, dinosaur, horse, sheep, duck, pig, cat, car, boat, airplane

Favorite thing ever - Mommy

Other favorite things - going outside for a walk, playing with his stuffed animals, having a bottle, eating fish sticks, playing with Daddy, going in the basement and listening to his special CD with children's songs and dancing his little heart out, playing hide-and-go-seek

Favorite foods - fish sticks, yogurt, avocados, banana/berry baby food (homemade or from the store), popcorn (the soft parts, of course), cheerios, milk, anything sweet, graham crackers

Shows he loves: used to love Baby Einstein, now loves The Wiggles, Kipper (has always loved), Simon's Cat (on youtube), any informative video about animals, the "I am a Child of God" music video on youtube, Barney

Favorite Books - Heads, Tails, Moo, The Daddy Book, Hey Diddle Diddle, Ten in the Meadow, Spot Goes to the Park, One Boy

Favorite Songs: Bear Necessities, Hungarian Dances by Brahms (lol), ANYTHING Daddy makes up on the spot, Old McDonald, The Wheels on the Bus, I am a Child of God, Heads Shoulders Knees and Toes, any classical piece that features a lot of drums

Things I notice about him - He loves to be held as much as possible (if it were up to him, he would be held probably 80% of the day), he is very attached to his mother, he thrives on routine (if you add something new to the routine, that's fine, you just have to do it the EXACT same way every time after that), he is pretty bipolar (either really happy, or really mad - hardly in between, at least at home), he prefers to play with someone rather than alone, he doesn't have a strong desire to climb on things like a lot of babies do his age (perhaps not a fan of heights due to his falling down the stairs a few times), he is an excellent sleeper/napper as long as he is in his own bed, he loves to please his parents, he likes to imitate mommy and daddy, he prefers to eat food on his own and with the proper utensils

Things people notice about him - he is very wiggly when he runs/walks (his arms wiggle around, and he bounces), he makes really funny/animated facial expressions, he is a very happy/easy going baby, he is very talkative for his age

Our typical routine:

He wakes up around 7

Family prayer around 7:45

Eats breakfast at 8

Runs errands with Mommy

Watches a show/has a snack while we settle from errands

Eats lunch around 11:30

Takes nap at 12

Wakes up from 2-3

Snack after nap

Visit or help a friend around 3

Play until dinner

Dinner around 5:30

Daddy gets home 6:30

Snack and bath time around 7

Family prayer and scripture study around 7:30

Bedtime at 8

And that is Henry Charles Godard at almost 17 months. I am so blessed to be a mother, and I am so grateful to be his mother.
