My new favorite thing...

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

So as of tomorrow, I will be 33 weeks pregnant which means that I have 4 weeks until I'm considered full term, and 7 weeks until I'm due. I can now say, "Hey. What's up? I'm going to have a baby next month." It sure is freaking awesome.

Ever since I hit 20 weeks, my favorite thing has been to look at how many weeks I have until 40, and look back that many weeks to see what I was doing then so that I can get a sense for how much time I have left. For example, since I have 7 weeks left, I like to look at the calendar and count back 7 weeks to see what I was doing then. 7 weeks ago was Valentine's Day and I was very sick and confined to our couch the entire month of February playing Kingdom Hearts all the live-long day. Andrew was extremely busy with school but managed to buy me a small cake that said, "Happy Valentine's Day" because I was craving cake so bad. About a week and a half later, we exchanged homemade Valentine's Day cards (finally) which is a tradition of ours.

Anyway, so that is my new favorite thing. As far as how things are going now, this last weekend was crazy and wonderful! My sister, who is an intern for Utah Senator Mike Lee, was sent out to DC for a week and got to spend the weekend with us! It was so fun and surreal to have her here since I feel so far removed from my family! Here are some pictures!

Here I am marveling at how loose her camisole fits her because I've gotten so accustomed to them being uncomfortably snug!

A little tummy next to a big tummy!

I'm swollen and huge but also adorable!

While Andrea was here, we saw The Hunger Games on Saturday and hung out and watched General Conference until she left on Sunday, after which Andrew's parents came over bringing tidings of great joy, aka, couches. We sold our measly $100 couch 2 weeks ago and had been using an air mattress as a couch ever since so I can't begin to express how wonderful it is to have nice couches. Andrew's parents are doing some renovating in their home and decided to get some new furniture and pass their old furniture onto us. The couches they gave us are way above par for what we had been using for the last 7 months since we got here. Although I acquired the skill of having to basically roll off the couch in order to get off of it due to my expanding mid-section (which was usually accompanied with unattractive grunting), it sure will be nice to spend the last weeks of my pregnancy on couches that require less grunting and rolling. Every time I come down the stairs now and see them, I feel this elation that, I believe, is a very close resemblance to the side-effects of pixie dust.

Other than that, things are going pretty good. I'm not feeling too sick. I am, however, dealing with some pretty intense back pain which requires me to carry around ice packs (which I did have to use when we went to see The Hunger Games) but with frequent visits to the chiropractor it is steadily improving. The countdown continues and I can't wait to meet my active energizer bunny!
